If your smith machine or Caribou III rack will be used in a commercial environment, where it will be receiving alot of daily use, then you probably should invest in the linear bearings. They will last a lifetime. They are industrial bearings that just won't ware out!

Q. Do I need the linear bearings for home use? The standard bearings which come with our smith racks exceed the quality of gym racks you may have seen in local stores so you should be fine with the bearing which come standard with our smith machines. If you are purchasing a smith machine for your home where the rack will receive casual use you may not need these, although if you want only the best then we do recommend purchasing them.
